With Chrystia Freeland, U.S. Managing Editor of the Financial Times.

Yay! Dylan let me make my points – sort of. He seems genuinely intrigued and open to hearing what I had to say. And how about Chrystia dragging out ye olde “15-year-old rape victim!” argument?

Yep Chrystia – even those babies deserve to be recognized as persons under the law.

This is about human rights and ending injustice and inequality! – goals most people would say are praiseworthy. You don’t often find someone who would say “No, Katie – I don’t think all human beings deserve human rights.” Yet that is exactly what Chrystia was doing. That position is ridiculous, illogical, unscientific and evil. Let’s get indignant!

The ‘Me Generation’ paradigm of self-centered egoism is out. We’ve found it cold and empty. It’s neutered us and crippled interaction between men and women. A resounding “no, thank you!” from today’s thinking young women.

Maybe this is the reason the pro-life movement by and large is run by women under 30. Think Lila Rose, Kristi Burton, Stephanie Gray, Joy Yearout and Kristin Hawkins.

It’s not just about me anymore. That’s the difference between the new generation of young women and the older feminist movement.

Looking from the outside in, today’s young women have a choice.

We can embrace the “It’s All About Me, Damn It!” selfishness of a modern feminist movement that spends its time throwing birth control and condoms at us – tools (we’re learning the hard way) of controlling us.

Or -

We can embrace the way God made us and fight for personhood – an honest, logical movement for justice. Realizing and affirming our nature as women and exploring what that means in our daily lives – not through inward naval gazing, but through genuinely giving, receiving and fighting for truth, justice and love.

This article made my day. Thank you Matt Patterson, at Pajamas Media, for the funniest (cause it’s the truest) article I’ve read in … awhile. Enjoy “Men, the Gender Wars are Over – We Won”

So after reading this article, I hereby promise to join the resistance to this vast man-wing conspiracy. Who’s with me!?

Men, our long twilight struggle with the opposite sex is over. Our victory is total.

Can you believe the way things used to be? Remember when our fathers and grandfathers would drag themselves to mind-numbing jobs every day, having the sole responsibility for the feeding, clothing, and housing of their entire family?

And things were no easier before marriage, when men’s quest for sexual satisfaction was all too often hampered by the widespread moral code which taught women not to give out the “milk” for “free.”

Well, that state of affairs just wouldn’t do. So we men came together and did what we do best — formulate and implement a plan. First step, design the perfect world, the perfect male world. We decided such a world would consist of two things: less responsibility and more — and no-strings — sex.

Brothers, have we succeeded.

Well despite the fact that the makeup lady made my lips look gargantuan and “Dylan” barely let me talk – I love the fact that he accidentally agrees with personhood.

Funny aside. The driver who picked me up and took me to the studio asked what I was talking about. “Oh, healthcare – bet you’re sick of hearing that one huh?” I ask. “Oh, wow. Thought you were talking on some kinda teen issues or something – how old are you?!” he looks back incredulously from the rear view mirror.

Will be on again tomorrow (Wednesday Dec. 2) at 10:45 EST to talk about the shift of young women “losing interest in reproductive rights” (according to the scheduler). This’ll be fun. Think I’m up against a feminist who wrote an article on this in the NY Times here.

Prayers please that maybe I can change some hearts and minds tomorrow!

This has been a “pulling my hair out” kind of week. The Senate is set to pass Reid’s health bill, perhaps tomorrow, and the entire pro-life movement is scrambling to have their supporters call their Senators and say:

“unless any health care bill includes the Stupak-Pitts language – at a BARE MINIMUM – a vote for Cloture is a vote for government funded abortion!”

Couple observations here for my well-meaning fellow pro-lifers:

1) When did we wave the white flag? Was I in the bathroom when we gave up? A “bare minimum”?? What kind of strategy is that? You ask for the maximum!!! Has no one ever negotiated or fund raised? This is just silly. Obviously I work for a movement with an insecurity complex.

2) I agree a vote for cloture is a vote for a government abortion mandate, but the Stupak-Pitts Amendment is not the way to fix it!

The Stupak Amendment allows exceptions in cases of rape, incest and the life of the mother. It fundamentally says that some situations justify murdering another human being. There’s a word for this mentality. “Pro-choice.”

And here’s where I want to pull my hair out (and that would just be unattractive and very unfeminine which is the point of this blog – so don’t make me do it!)

By allowing government funding of abortion in cases of rape, incest and the non-existent “life of the mother” scenario, we undermine the very lives we are trying to protect. We compromise some human beings’ lives for political expediency.

The entire bill should be scrapped and left in the legislative garbage dump of bills that almost wrecked the country.

Don’t let the phoney Stupak-Pitts Amendment language fool you. The Stupak Amendment is not pro-life, and even if it were, the bill still deserves to be blocked every. single. step. of. the. way.

Say it with me pro-life movement “We can do it! Personhood NOW. No more compromising lives!”

Like Pelosicare before it, the Reid health care bill is indeed a mandate for abortion, the lack of conscience protections, rationed health care, physician assisted suicide and euthanasia .

Don’t be fooled!

So when my coworker Mike came up with the idea for a Pro-Life Pumpkin contest and displayed his own 2008 creation – aside from being amazed at his carving skills – I thought it was adorable.

I'm adorable. You know it.

Great way to be a witness to the humanity and personhood of the preborn child in everyday life.

It’s hard to bridge that gap sometimes. When the lady at Jiffy Lube asks “So what do you do?” it’s sometimes hard to say “I work for the recognition of personhood for all human beings” or to tell people I spend Saturday morning praying in front of Planned Parenthood for an end to abortion. I’ve had some deep conversations with people after bridging that uncomfortable few moments, but I can understand if it’s sometimes difficult.

SO – here’s an easy way to be culturally pro-life in your everyday Halloween existence.

If you think this little guy is super cute you can get a template and contest rules here:

Johanna just directed me to a “Quote of the Day” over at Jill Stanek’s blog. It linked to an article on the ‘Abortioneers’ blog called Second Trimester Abortion Provision: Breaking the Silence and Changing the Discourse.

This abortionist gives a very frank and brutally open assessment of why she does second trimester abortions. I’m speechless and almost ill in the wake of reading this. It’s funny how the body involuntarily reacts sometimes. As I read this article, I found myself crossing my arms defensively over my heart and chest – physically repulsed by the screen and the words in front of me. The author of this article, it seems, knows a little something about involuntary reactions.

When I was a little over 18 weeks pregnant with my now pre-school child, I did a second trimester abortion for a patient who was also a little over 18 weeks pregnant. As I reviewed her chart I realised that I was more interested than usual in seeing the fetal parts when I was done, since they would so closely resemble those of my own fetus. I went about doing the procedure as usual, removed the laminaria I had placed earlier and confirmed I had adequate dilation. I used electrical suction to remove the amniotic fluid, picked up my forceps and began to remove the fetus in parts, as I always did. I felt lucky that this one was already in the breech position – it would make grasping small parts (legs and arms) a little easier.

With my first pass of the forceps, I grasped an extremity and began to pull it down. I could see a small foot hanging from the teeth of my forceps. With a quick tug, I separated the leg. Precisely at that moment, I felt a kick – a fluttery “thump, thump” in my own uterus. It was one of the first times I felt fetal movement. There was a leg and foot in my forceps, and a “thump, thump” in my abdomen. Instantly, tears were streaming from my eyes – without me – meaning my conscious brain – even being aware of what was going on.

This is tough to read – but it needs to be read. We need to see.

Zac Efron as ... the guy lounging on the stadium seats

I saw this story from UK’s Daily Mail floating around Facebook this morning and almost choked on my “Jamaican Me Crazy” coffee.

So I admit it – my preteen years included a bedroom wall covered with Leonardo DiCaprio pictures. But I’m all grown up now. If a hoard of barbarian invaders were threatening, I don’t want “Leo” guarding my cave. Girly men need not apply.

So what gives with the weird attraction of otherwise perfectly normal women to effeminate heartthrobs like Johnny Depp? Why the fascination with girly men? Can someone explain the Zac Efron phenomenon to me?

Well Dr. Alexandra Alvergne at the University of Sheffied just did.

It ushered in the 1960s sexual revolution and gave women control over their own fertility.

But the Pill may also have changed women’s taste in men, according to a study.

Scientists say the hormones in the oral contraceptive suppress a woman’s interest in masculine men and make boyish men more attractive. Although the change occurs for just a few days each month, it may have been highly influential since use of the Pill began more than 40 years ago.

If the theory is right, it could partly explain the shifting in tastes from macho 1950s and 1960s stars such as Kirk Douglas and Sean Connery to the more wimpy, androgynous stars of today, such as Johnny Depp and Russell Brand.

Dr Alexandra Alvergne, of the University of Sheffield, says the Pill could also be altering the way women pick their mates and could have long-term implications for society.

As usual, American Life League (full disclosure – where I work) was all over this A YEAR AGO.

Here’s my coworker Mike Hichborn on a little thing he coined “Pill Googles:”

So in case you’re keeping track:

Reasons the Birth Control Pill is Bad:

- It kills preborn babies

Who let Planned Parenthood speak for women?

I’m a 23-year-old woman and a product of my generation – a generation that, statistically speaking, supports the family, increasingly opposes abortion, gives and works for those less fortunate, and is willing to fight for human rights at home and abroad. We appear to be at the beginning of the anti-“me generation,” if you will. I like to think of us as Joan of Arcs with laptops. Make mine a Mac!

And judging from anecdotal evidence of women I see out and about (drum roll, please!), we increasingly like dresses. Was that a gasp I heard from the Gloria Steinem crowd? Calm down, ladies.

Now I consider myself a fairly normal, well-adjusted woman of my generation, so you can imagine my confusion when this commercial from Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion chain, began heating up the airwaves earlier this month in the Washington, D.C. area – where I live.“More than 90 percent of what Planned Parenthood does is provide preventive and primary care to keep women healthy,” the soft voice-over tells me.

Primary, preventive care? Now isn’t that sweet of them? And all this time I thought Planned Parenthood was about abortion and contraception! Silly me.Let’s just mosey over to their 2007-2008 Annual Report, shall we? And we’ll read all about their primary “health care” for women of my generation.

Stop the presses!

According to their own data, primary care accounts for less than one percent of Planned Parenthood’s business—0.7 percent, to be exact. So much for truth in advertising. It appears the operative word here is “preventive.” So what are they preventing? Breast cancer, heart disease, maybe? Those two frightening killers of women? Hmmm … Not exactly.

Abortion accounts for one-third of Planned Parenthood’s clinic income of $374 million in 2008. Planned Parenthood saw 2,360,796 women for “contraceptive services” in 2008. To Planned Parenthood, “preventive” refers to prevention of both pregnancy and birth – and always has.

Margaret Sanger, in her 1915 book, What Every Girl Should Know, said this about

Margaret Sanger - founder of Planned Parenthood

motherhood: “I cannot refrain from saying that women must come to recognize there is some function of womanhood other than being a child-bearing machine.” In her 1922 book, Woman and the New Race, Margaret Sanger said this about the purpose of sex: “[Our objective is] unlimited sexual gratification without the burden of unwanted children.”

And don’t even get her started on marriage! From the same book: “The marriage bed is the most degenerative influence in the social order.”

(If you think this is scary stuff, do a Google search of Sanger and check out what she had to say on eugenics, “feeble-minded” people and African Americans.)

Margaret Sanger founded the American Birth Control League in 1921. The organization changed its name to Planned Parenthood Federation of America in 1942. Today, Planned Parenthood considers itself a leader in the fields of women’s rights and women’s health. Sanger’s organization, from 1921 to this very day, has always considered pregnancy and birth a form of parasitic physical and social illness – something we need “health care” to fix.

Now we can compare Planned Parenthood’s clearly outmoded concept of femininity and womanhood with the perspective of modern American philosopher Alice Von Hildebrand, one of my favorite authors, in this 2003 interview on her book The Privilege of Being a Woman (2002):

“A woman by her very nature is maternal — for every woman, whether married or unmarried, is called upon to be a biological, psychological or spiritual mother — she knows intuitively that to give, to nurture, to care for others, to suffer with and for them — for maternity implies suffering — is infinitely more valuable in God’s sight than to conquer nations and fly to the moon.”

The choice offered to young women these days is to accept their bodies and their womanhood as gifts: the unique and beautiful ability to give life, hope and nurturing to others.

Or women can accept the Planned Parenthood philosophy that our bodies are meant for self-satisfaction, self-actualization, i.e. the self. Women can choose between a culture of selflessness or selfishness.I know which one I aspire to and I know which one the stats show an increasing number of my fellow young women aspire to.

Get with the times, Planned Parenthood! This boat is leaving without you.
